Ahmedabad cybercrime nabbed six persons for selling fake Remdesivir injections for Rs 20,000 a vial. As many as 133 vials of Hetero and Jubilant companies were seized from them.
The accused had sold Rs 100 worth a bottle antibiotics Piperacillin & Toazobactam after pasting fake stickers of Hetero and Jubilant and packing them in duplicate boxes. They allegedly sold these to about 5,000 persons at a rate of Rs 20,000 a bottle. 
Crime branch team received a tip off that one Sunpreet alias Sunny was going to deliver Remdesivir injections to Jay Thakur near Gathiya Rath in Chandkheda on Wednesday. Sunny was nabbed and 20 vials were recovered from him. On questioning, he claimed he had got them from a friend Raj Vora, a Paldi resident. The team reached Vora’s residence and found 10 vials of the same make at his house. Vora revealed that he had got the 30 vials from Nitesh Joshi, a resident of Naroda.
The police caught Nitesh Joshi, 31, and his friend Shaktisinh Ravat and found 103 vials from a bag in a hotel room. Rs 21,04,700 cash were seized from them.
Investigations led to a syndicate in Vadodara involving one Vivek Maheshwari and his friend Dishant who procured sealed injections of antibiotics Piperacillin and Tazobactam, removed the original stickers and then stuck stickers of Hetero and Jubilant Remdesivir injections.
Police have arrested six persons so far, while the alleged kingpin Vivek Maheshwari is absconding. 
ACP D P Chudasama said a case of cheating and under Essential Goods and Disaster Management Acts has been filed against the accused and a search has been launched for Maheshwari.
Three held for theft, sale of Remdesivir
The Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested three persons, including a plant operator at a pharmaceutical company having its manufacturing facility at Changodar, for selling Remdesivir illegally. 
The SOG arrested Hardik Dhanji Vasani, 26, Milan Savsaviya, 21, and Deval Kaswala, all residents of Nikol. The arrests were made on a tip off that the three were selling Remdesivir injections from someone in Bapunagar. Of the three arrested, Savsaviya worked at Zydus Biotech as plant operator from where he stole injections. The three sold these at a high price.
