Rayagada Police today seized M/s Durga Sri Packers in Goutam Nagar area of Rayagada town and seized a huge amount of oil pouches, plastic cans, huge tin oil containers hoarded illegally.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Rayagada PS IIC Rigan Kindo and health department officials conducted a raid at the unit and seized the oil pouches which is said to be spurious. The owner of the unit, identified as T Durga Prasad, has been arrested in this regard.
The firm is registered with the Office of CDMO, Rayagada under Health & Family Welfare Department and supposed to do processing & packaging of ready-to-serve fruit beverages. Reportedly, the oil samples have been handed over to the health department to verify the percentage of toxicity.
The food license certificate with No-12019027000030 was issued under FSS Act-2006 & Rules, Regulations-2011 by Food Safety & Standard Authority of India(FSSAI), which is situated in CDMO’s office.
Today, the police raided the factory and arrested the owner on charges of packing spurious edible oil and sending it to different parts of the district and outside.
